VIDEOS: A group of teens from New York turned a memorable prom night into a heroic rescue mission when they alerted a family to a fire late Saturday night. As they were heading to a friend’s house after the school’s junior prom, they noticed a glow in the sky. “I thought it was a bonfire at first,” said Aiden Kane, a 17-year-old junior at Whitesboro High School. “I never thought it would be a house fire right there with no cops or firefighters around, it’s just crazy that we were the first ones there.”
Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered a garage engulfed in flames. Kane quickly acted by moving the girls in their group to safety across the street. He then returned to assist the homeowner. The family expressed gratitude for the teens’ quick actions. Kane, who aspires to become a state trooper, downplayed his heroism. “It wasn’t the building that was on fire, though it could have ended up spreading to it,” he said. “I’m sure someone else would have gotten to it before me. I am sure I stopped their house from burning down, I don’t know if I am a lifesaver, but we definitely helped with his house at least.”
