Video shows a massive fire completely engulfing and then ultimately destroying a historic building in downtown Gloversville on Tuesday. As of this morning, there have been no reported injuries.
Several videos of Tuesday night’s blaze were posted to the Fulton County Area News Facebook page. In them, you can see the challenges that firefighters faced trying to salvage the vacant building before it collapsed.
“A major collapse on the building’s north side occurred during the fire at 7:51 pm. A state arson investigation team was called to the scene at around 9 pm. The building, having been vacant for years and being severely deteriorated, has already been declared a total loss.” Fulton County Area News, Facebook
Fulton County Area News says the inferno started in the early evening on Tuesday night to the building located at South Main and Burr Street in downtown Gloversville. The vacated building, according to the source, had been a fixture in Fulton County for over a hundred years, albeit it had “severely deteriorated.”
According to Fulton County Area News, all personnel were sent away from the collapse zone just before the north side of the building collapsed at 7:51 p.m. A Facebook video shows the historic building cave in.
