VIDEO: The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded to a tractor trailer fire on the Thruway around mile marker 204 near Mindenville just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
An evacuation order was issued for the surrounding vicinity due to the truck carrying compressed natural gas, but the notice was rescinded around 11 a.m. after the fire was extinguished and the danger was deemed to be cleared by law enforcement.
The MCSO stated that 165 residents were impacted by the evacuation. Designated safe staging locations were established in the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville and Fort Plain Central School Districts.
No injuries were reported in the incident. The eastbound lanes on I-90 between Exit 29A by Little Falls and Exit 29 toward Canajoharie were closed for serval hours while crews conducted cleanup efforts.
