Town of Richford votes in favor of Fire Department funding

The Town of Richford voted in favor of funding a brand new station. The vote passed, 121 – 53.

Richford Fire Chief Tracy Keener said the turnout of support was unbelievable, so much so that they ran out of parking spaces.

โ€œSo we had almost double the turnout, and it was fantastic. It really was breathtaking to see that many people engage. We do have a small town, so people taking the time out of their busy lives to support us, it was amazing. I canโ€™t describe how wonderful it felt,โ€ said Keener.

The Fire Department will now work with its architect and engineering team to analyze planned blueprints, making sure that the plans are still within budget due to the fluctuating cost of materials.

The department hopes to break ground in the spring of 2026. The new station will remain in the same location as the current station, 14 Bowery Lane in Richford.

The department will move its equipment to other locations during the construction process, but service will not be disrupted. Keener expressed gratitude for the community support displayed during the vote.
