The Stittville Volunteer Fire Department celebrated 100 years of service to the community with a gathering at Firemen’s Field. Members and friends gathered to enjoy food, drinks and bounce houses to celebrate. “It’s hard to put into words. There were a lot of people ahead of us who had a vision of what this department could look like, and we’re just doing our best to carry it on,” said Stittville Chief Bill Sutherland. Department members assembled a display of uniforms, remembering those who served. The department dedicated the Firemen’s Field to the late former Chief Neil โSudsโ Sutherland, who passed away in 2022. Sutherland served the department for 57 years, including 20 years as chief. “He was a very respectable man, and he led us in the right direction, it’s very deserving that the field is named in his honor,” added Chief Bill Sutherland.
