Springville fire crews respond to barn fire, one firefighter injured

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The Springville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a heavy barn fire Tuesday evening around 6 p.m. Fire officials said one firefighter was taken to the hospital and several buildings on Main Street sustained damage before fire crews arrived and got the flames under control.

“The House was just starting. It was bubbling the siding off the house. One barn was fully involved, it was already into the second barn when I got here and I was here four or five minutes before the trucks,” Springville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Marc Genter said.

“We had a water task force because we were afraid that the village water supply wouldn’t be able to handle the two ladder trucks that we had,” Village of Springville Emergency Manager Todd Catalano said.

At least one of the barns will be torn down from the damage caused.
