Snow, ice make it tricky for firefighters to battle Queens blaze

VIDEO: The snow made it tricky to fight a fire in Queens

Flames broke out around 8 p.m. Saturday inside a third-floor bedroom at a home on 99th Street in Flushing.

When fire crews got there they found the ground was slippery so they had to be extra careful not to fall.

“The ice and the slush slowed things down, but units were able to get down the alley and up to the top floor,” said FDNY Deputy Chief Edward Esposito.

One resident suffered minor injuries.

All residents are displaced because of the damage.
