‘She got lucky,’ says fire chief after Rodman crash

Rodman’s Fire Chief says a woman walked away from a crash Tuesday that mangled the pickup truck she was driving. “She got lucky,” said Chief Dale Tamblin. State police said 38-year-old Katie Fields of Watertown was driving on Route 177 in the town of Rodman when her pickup truck left the road and struck an embankment. The vehicle came to rest on the driver’s side. Family members tell 7News Fields sustained injuries that will require surgery. Tamblin said Fields climbed through the sunroof to escape the wreckage. Troopers said Fields was taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown for treatment.
