Port Jervis fire company celebrates 135 years of service

Tri-States Hose Co. No. 6, at 135 years old, is the youngest of Port Jervis Fire Departmentโ€™s individual companies. Established in 1890, Hose 6 is the youngest, but its circa 1892 firehouse remains the oldest continuously operated. Hose 6 held an โ€œOld Timersโ€ dinner recently, celebrating the companyโ€™s nearly century-and-a-half of continuous volunteer service and the dedication of its members. Captain William Conklin and 1st Lt. Ed Pavlich presented personalized certificates and company shirts to the members, and recognized dignitaries and a delegation of fellow firefighters from Rockland County. Conklin thanked Haverstraw Fire Departmentโ€™s Relief Hose Co. No. 3 for a friendship that extends back to a time of crisis in 1955. Haverstraw firefighters presented Hose 6 with a plaque and referenced โ€œthe Great Delaware River Floodโ€ at which time their company assisted in Port Jervis for multiple days.
