Norwich Fire Department honors passing of retired captain of nearly 30 years

VIDEO: Tuesday, the Norwich Firefighters Association announced the death of retired Fire Captain Tim Christopherson. Christopherson served with the fire department for nearly 30 years. He served in the Navy from 1969 to 1971, a commitment that marked the beginning of a life of service. In 1974, he joined the Norwich Police Department. He then joined the Norwich Fire Department a few years later. According to the Norwich Fire Department, Christopherson “proudly served the City of Norwich as a dedicated firefighter and union leader. His commitment, courage, and steady leadership earned him the respect of his peers and the community alike.” Christopherson also responded to the 9/11 attacks in New York City, working with other first responders at Ground Zero. This week, his fellow firefighters brought him home, escorting him from Rochester General Hospital to the Norwich firehouse one last time.
