VIDEO: Later this month, Volunteer Fire Departments across the state will open their doors for the “Light Up NY Red” campaign. The Light Up NY Red campaign aims to raise awareness for people interested in volunteering. As part of the campaign, the firehouses will shine red lights on the outsides of their stations.
It also coincides with a major recruiting event the departments have statewide. Not many businesses/areas are participating here in the Southern Tier, and FASNY would like to have more people singing the praises of volunteer work.
“We want to alert the community to the fact that when someone in their neighborhood and their family is having one of the worst days of their lives, that there always be a trained crew of men and women who are dedicated to alleviate that pain and suffering,” said FASNY Secretary John D’Alessandro.
