VIDEO: The Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps hosted representatives from the offices of State Senator Lea Webb (D-52nd District) and Assemblymembers Anna Kelles (D-125th District) and Jeff Gallahan (R-131st District) Wednesday in search of state funding for a new EMS building on 15 Broome Street.
This project has been in the works since 2021, and EMS Chief John Tillotson said the funding is essential to getting the project across the finish line.
“Today’s meeting was about bringing together our elected leaders from both the assembly and the senate from both sides of the political aisle,” Tillotson said. “To help us identify resources that we could secure from the state level to help us build this important emergency services facility.”
The department rents its current space from the Marathon Fire Department. Tillotson says since its inception in 2000, they have doubled their calls and expanded their coverage region, outgrowing the space.
