The call came in around 4 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, on McGraw North Road. The Cortlandville, Homer, and McGraw Fire Departments, along with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department, responded to a structure fire.
Low water pressure forced the use of a tanker for what fire crews are calling a well-involved working fire.
“Initial reports suggested that occupants might still be inside the structure. Crews briefly attempted an interior search but were forced to withdraw due to the heavy fire conditions,” said the Cortlandville Fire Department.
Crews remained on the scene for several hours. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
Assisting at the scene were the Homer, McGraw, Marathon, Cincinnatus, Truxton, and Killawog Fire Departments, along with the Cortland County Department of Emergency Response and Communications, Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Cortlandville Codes, TLC EMS, and National Grid.
