Fire near Brockport school leaves maintenance building destroyed

VIDEO: A building adjacent to Brockport High School is now destroyed following a two-alarm fire which broke out Saturday morning. The shop stored equipment and general maintenance supplies for the school. Joe Hynes and his daughter, Scarlett, were in the car and on their way to a dance recital when the fire started. Scarlett pointed out the flames coming from the roof of the building, prompting Joe to call 911 and report it. โ€œI was very proud of Scarlett, I wouldโ€™ve just driven by,โ€ Joe said. โ€œShe was very aware of her surroundings.โ€ Joe says he checked the police blotter following his report and saw he was the first person to call it in. Once on scene, the Brockport Fire District called in eight other agencies to assist. This includes the Spencerport Fire Department, Murray Joint Fire District, Kendall Fire Department, Clarendon Fire Company, Clarendon Fire Department, Bergen Fire Department, Hamlin Fire Department and the Hilton Fire Department.
