Families displaced after fire rips through Brooklyn apartment building; 2 people injured

The Red Cross is assisting families who lost everything in an apartment fire in Crown Heights, Brooklyn on Wednesday.

The FDNY says the fire started just before 7:30 p.m. in an apartment building at 1030 Willmohr St. between East 93rd and East 92nd streets.

The two-alarm fire spread from the second floor to the attic.

Two civilians were taken to Kings County Hospital with minor injuries.

The blaze was placed under control around 9:10 p.m.

The Red Cross assisted two households, including six residents.

One family received emergency lodging and financial aid. The other family received financial aid.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
