City of Binghamton Mayor appoints new Fire Marshal

Mayor Jared M. Kraham announced that he has appointed Captain Arthur J. Griswold as the cityโ€™s new fire marshal. A 19-year veteran of the Binghamton Fire Department, Griswold has served as the Assistant Fire Marshal since 2022. Additionally, he stepped into the role of Acting Fire Marshal earlier this year following the retirement of Fire Marshal Timothy M. Oโ€™Neill. Griswold served as a lieutenant with the fire department from 2016 until 2022. Before serving with the Binghamton Fire Department, he was a firefighter for the Village of Endicott from 2001 to 2006. โ€œFire Marshal Griswold brings years of leadership experience and fire prevention expertise to this role,โ€ said Kraham in a statement. โ€œHis appointment builds on my administrationโ€™s work to strengthen public safety and hold problem property owners accountable, while expanding partnerships with small businesses and cutting bureaucratic red tape.โ€
