Car fire on northbound I-190 halts Buffalo traffic

VIDEO: A car fire stopped traffic on the northbound I-190 lanes late Thursday afternoon. The fire happened around 4:45 p.m. Thursday along the right shoulder, beyond Exit 5 (Hamburg Street). The Buffalo Fire Department quickly arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire. All lanes were closed as crews worked the scene for a time, with fire trucks lined across all three lanes. The left lane reopened around 5 p.m. The middle reopened around 5:15 p.m. The scene was cleared not much longer after that, around 5:20 p.m. Traffic was congested for people traveling south on the I-190, from Seneca Street to the I-90.
