Canandaigua Fire Department responds to 2,460 calls in 2024

The Canandaigua Fire Department released its 2024 year-end report, revealing a total of 2,460 calls for serviceโ€”underscoring the departmentโ€™s essential role in emergency response across the city and surrounding areas. Of those calls, 1,153 were for EMS-only incidents, 69 involved fires, and 117 were related to motor vehicle accidents. The department also responded to 531 calls within the Town of Canandaigua Fire District and provided mutual aid to neighboring agencies 58 times. Rescue and EMS incidents made up the majority of responses, with 1,494 calls. False alarms and false calls followed with 267, while service calls accounted for 248. The departmentโ€™s data shows Wednesdays between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. as the busiest time of the week. The busiest months in 2024 were July (297 calls), September (233), and August (220), reflecting seasonal spikes in emergency needs. The Canandaigua Fire Departmentโ€™s annual statistics highlight the wide range of emergencies it handles and the continued demand for responsive public safety services in the community.
