Buffalo firefighters respond to structure fire, five firefighters injured

VIDEO: Buffalo firefighters responded to a 2-alarm fire in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to a city spokesperson, fire crews responded to a fire at Payless Furniture and Mattress at 1269 Genesee Street, at around 2:35 a.m. Saturday morning.

The fire caused an estimated $150,000 of damage to the building and an additional $50,000 in estimated damage to the contents of the store.

Five firefighters sustained non-life threatening injuries while fighting the fire, the spokesperson said.

The fire is believed to have come from the rear of the building, according to City of Buffalo officials, however the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
