1 injured after heavy fire in vacant Albany building

One person sustained a non-life-threatening injury after a fire in a two-story vacant building on Clinton Avenue Tuesday night.

According to the Albany Fire Department, the fire broke out at 629 Clinton Avenue around 10:40 p.m.

The fire department was dispatched to the scene around 10:44 p.m. and arrived moments later at 10:50 p.m. Upon arrival, crews were met with a heavy, fully involved fire in the building.

Chief Joseph Gregory said the fire was contained to the building and crews were able to get it under control at 12:15 a.m.

According to Gregory, the person injured was transported to a hospital for treatment. No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Gregory said.
