New Mexico search and rescue crews hike Sandia Mountains to memorialize 9/11 first responders

Members of search and rescue teams from across the state memorialized 9/11 first responders with a hike up the Sandia Mountains. The teams climbed a total of 3,911 feet of elevation. That number represents the height of both Twin Towers, plus five other buildings in the World Trade Center complex that were destroyed or damaged. Each of the 10 members attached a photo and a bio to their packs, remembering a firefighter or a police officer who died.
