Albuquerque firefighter injured battling warehouse fire

A firefighter was injured while battling a warehouse fire just northwest of the Big I Wednesday afternoon. Albuquerque Fire Rescue confirms the firefighter was taken to a hospital, but did not give an update on their condition. The fire broke out at 3712 Commercial St NE, on the north side of Candelaria roughly halfway between Second Street and Edith.

Both Albuquerque Fire Resuce and Bernalillo County Fire Rescue crews responded, with the former in command. KOB 4’s crew on the scene tells us the warehouse has two businesses inside, Five Ton Monkey Design & Fabrication and The Lab, which houses indoor batting cages. The owner of Five Ton Monkey Design & Fabrication tells KOB 4 that the fire started in the batting cages space, though firefighters have yet to confirm that.
