Firefighter suffers minor injuries after car fire inside Manchester building, authorities say

One firefighter suffered minor injuries after a car fire inside a building in Manchester, authorities say.

Workers were repairing a Jeep inside a business on East Industrial Drive in Manchester when they were welding the Jeep and it caught fire, officials say. Officials say the car had some sort of oil undercoating, which ignited the fire.

The Manchester Fire Department said the workers couldn’t get the car out of the building, so when fire crews arrived, they brought the engine to the back of the building and brought in water to put out the flames.

But that’s when officials say the fuel tank burst. โ€œThey did a quick knockdown on the vehicle, but then the fuel tank ruptured and spread the fire back out,โ€ said Battalion Chief Robert Plantier of the Manchester Fire Department. โ€œCompanies were working to search the unit and get foam on that fire, when the rescue arrived, we hauled that truck out of the building.โ€ Officials said the fire is still under investigation.
