Crews battle house fire near Loon Mountain in Lincoln

Fire officials are working to determine what sparked a fire that broke out Saturday evening near Loon Mountain in Lincoln.

The fire chief told News 9 that the fire started shortly after 7 p.m. at a home on Crooked Mountain Road, in the area of South Peak. When crews arrived, they said there were flames coming out of the chimney, and the chief said the flames quickly spread to the roof.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no firefighters were hurt, officials said. The chief said crews had some issues with water at the scene, and accessing the home was a challenge due to the length of the driveway. It was also very cold at the time. Firefighters cleared the scene at about 4 a.m. Sunday.
