Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue (TMFR) is set to launch its Green Waste Collection Days over the next three weekends, offering Washoe County residents a free opportunity to dispose of dry and dead vegetation. The initiative aims to create defensible space, reducing the risk of property damage, injury, and loss of life from wildfires.
Sponsored by the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, with support from the Nevada Division of Forestry and Waste Management, the event will feature dumpsters at designated locations where residents can unload their green waste. TMFR personnel will be on-site to assist. The collection will occur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting, at various locations including Washoe Valley, Silver Lake, and Spanish Springs.
