VIDEO: Officials with the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District are urging caution on the roads following a near collision with firefighters, as well as an incident in which a fire engine was struck by a driver. On March 5, fire crews with Tahoe Douglas Fire were nearly hit on Highway 50 while assisting at the scene of a crash caused by a driver who failed to slow down during a snowstorm. One week later, on March 13, one of their fire engines was struck by a car while positioned at an emergency scene at Cave Rock tunnel. Fire officials say this also occurred during a snowstorm. They say these incidents demonstrate the importance of safe driving, obeying traffic laws and exercising caution in hazardous conditions.
