Reno firefighters rescue two teens from flood control tower

The Reno Fire Department (RFD) rescued two teenagers from a flood control tower on Saturday. Firefighters responded to a reported call of a confined space rescue at the lower Peavine retention basin on Saturday. The Reno Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue Team was requested based on the nature of the call. Crews arrived on scene first and determined that this was not a confined space rescue but two teenagers that were unable to climb down from a flood control tower. Crews rescued them by placing ground ladders to get them back to ground level. The Reno Fire Department requests parents discuss the hazards of playing around flood control basins, culverts and irrigation ditches with their kids.
