Rancho Fire in Washoe County completely contained

The Rancho Fire reached complete containment on Wednesday, Aug. 20, according to a Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District Facebook (TMFPD) post. Mop-up and repair work on the dozer lines will continue through Sunday, Aug. 24. The 1,483-acre grass and brush blaze in the Rancho Haven area was started by a person grinding metal on Thursday, Aug. 14, according to TMFPD. As of Sunday, Aug. 17, the tab to fight the Washoe County blaze was $650,000.

โ€œWe want to thank all of the agencies that supported and assisted in responding to this incident including our unified command partner Bureau of Land Management Nevada,โ€ the post said. The Reno Fire Department, Sparks Fire Department, Carson City Fire Department, Storey County Fire Protection District, U.S. Forest Service-Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Nevada Division of Forestry, Washoe County Nevada government, Washoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office, and Red Rock Volunteer Fire Department helped battle the blaze.
