New Clark County fire station opens in southwest Las Vegas valley

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The Clark County Fire Department opened the doors to its newest fire station in the southwest Las Vegas valley to the public Saturday morning. Hundreds of families flocked to the opening of Fire Station 39, where they were welcomed by a pancake breakfast from firefighters, the chance to hold a fire hose and more. Neighbors and area leaders said the new fire station, located near the intersection of Blue Diamond Road and South Rainbow Boulevard, mirrors the rapid growth of the southwest valley. โ€œIt was just dirt a short time ago,โ€ neighbor Autumn McClean said.

โ€œSo every time we venture down to this side of town and we see something new, weโ€™re like, โ€˜Oh, letโ€™s go try that, letโ€™s go try this. Iโ€™ve never seen that restaurant before,โ€™ Itโ€™s actually really exciting.โ€ Clark County Fire Department Chief Billy Samuels said Station 39 expands their coverage to a region that needed it. The stationโ€™s service area generally ranges north to Robindale Road. and south to Cactus Avenue, covering calls east of Fort Apache Road and west of Decatur Boulevard โ€œWe have stations around this, but they were just having to keep responding to this area,โ€ Samuels said. โ€œSo we identified that years ago with heatmaps to see where actually the calls are going, and weโ€™re like, โ€˜Hey, we need to put a place there!โ€™โ€
