Mass shooting at Grand Sierra Resort in Reno leaves 3 dead, 3 others hurt

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Three people are dead and three others were hurt in a mass shooting outside the Grand Sierra Resort (GSR) in Reno Monday morning. The incident happened at approximately 7:25 a.m. Monday outside the resort’s valet area. The Sparks Police Department chief confirmed in an an afternoon press conference that two people died at the scene, a third person died at the hospital, two others were in critical condition, and a sixth victim was taken to the hospital and has since been released.

The suspect was shot by police and remains hospitalized. Police said there is no clear link between the shooter and any of the victims. Only one officer suffered minor injuries, potentially from glass fragments, during the incident. Law enforcement from multiple agencies responded to a report of an active shooter at the Grand Sierra Resort at 7:25 a.m. on July 28.

Officials said the suspect, only identified as an adult man, was found within four to five minutes and was shot by officers in the parking lot of the resort. The investigation has revealed the suspect was seen walking into the resort parking lot, going to the valet area, and then he allegedly took out a handgun and started shooting at a group of people. Five people were shot in the valet area, and one of them died at the scene. Four others were taken to the hospital, one of those people later died, two others remain critical, and the fifth person has been released.
