Lightning-sparked Cottonwood Peak Fire still 40% contained, 132,445 acres burned

VIDEOS/PHOTOS: A lightning-sparked wildfire north of Tuscarora in Elko County remains at 132,445 acres and at 40% containment. The Cottonwood Peak Fire started three miles north of Tuscarora on August 15th.

Structure protection will remain in place for the ranches located along Highway 226 north of Chicken Creek Summit. Fire crews say while several ranches and a few buildings are threatened, there are no reports that any buildings have been lost. The Wilson Reservoir Campground, located 83 miles northwest of Elko, is closed until further notice. The Forest Service has temporarily closed the Wild Horse Crossing and Jack Creek campgrounds.
