Firehouse Subs delivers $31K grant to Clark County firefighters

PHOTOS: Firehouse Subs made a big delivery on Wednesday for Southern Nevada firefighters. The sandwich chain’s Public Safety Foundation presented a $31,412 grant to the Clark County Fire Department to purchase two chest compression systems.

According to the announcement, these systems will go to the firefighters in the rural communities of Sandy Valley and Indian Springs so they can act faster during sudden cardiac arrest emergencies.

“We are grateful to the Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs in Las Vegas for providing us with this generous grant,” Clark County Fire Chief Billy Samuels said in a statement. “This lifesaving equipment will enhance the ability of our first responders to perform consistent, high-quality chest compressions during cardiac emergencies, helping us save more lives and better serve our community.”

Both of those towns are about 30 minutes from the closest hospital, meaning that without the devices, firefighters have to perform chest compressions for an extended period.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded 6,841 grants valued at over $96 million to public safety organizations since 2005.

Clark County Fire’s grant is one of 87 foundation awards for the most recent grant cycle, according to Firehouse Subs.
