Fire at Dayton High School contained after strong winds impact HVAC system

A fire broke out earlier today at Dayton High School, likely caused by strong winds impacting the schoolโ€™s HVAC system. According to Dayton High School in an online post, strong winds also led to intermittent power outages across several schools in the district. No students were on campus when the fire occurred because of early release for parent-teacher conferences. All staff members were safely evacuated, and emergency responders quickly contained the fire.

District officials said parent-teacher conferences at some schools ended early, closing at 5 p.m. due to power issues in parts of school buildings. Families were encouraged to contact their childโ€™s school directly for updates on conference schedules or other information. Officials confirmed that classes will continue as normal tomorrow.
