Crews knock down brush fire near NV Energy substation in Verdi

Crews with Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue (TMFR) and the Reno Fire Department knocked down a brush fire near a NV Energy substation in Verdi on Tuesday. Forward progress has been stopped as of 2:30 p.m. on July 8. The fire burned a quarter of an acre. TMFR fire crews will remain on scene to mop up and secure the fire line. Authorities say no one was injured and no buildings were damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
