A fire in a West Omaha apartment was determined to be caused by a water heater, Omaha Fire Department crews said Monday. According to an OFD release, crews responded to the scene near 157th Street and William Court just before 6:45 a.m. Monday.
Crews saw no sign of fire from outside the complex, but once inside, they found heavy smoke. After locating the apartment’s utility closet, the fire was quickly extinguished. An investigation said the fire was caused by an “event” with the home’s water heater. Damages to the complex are estimated to be $45,000.
