Three people were seriously hurt in a fire at a vacant building at the corner of North Saddle Creek Road and Hamilton Street in Omaha. Firefighters responded to the scene around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday and found a lot of smoke coming from the building.
They were able to quickly put the fire out and rescue the individuals inside, bringing them to safety. “Looks like a possible homeless encampment inside the vacant structure,” said Assistant Chief Scott Fitzpatrick. “Right now, we have fire investigators on scene, we’re knocking down the hot spots at this time and then they’ll be in there investigating the fire.”
