VIDEO: Southeast Nebraska firefighters were sent to an incident Saturday night where a fuel tanker truck overturned. Beatrice Firefighters were summoned to the north part of the city where the tanker tipped over onto its side, off a gravel drive at a Farmers Cooperative of Dorchester fuel facility.
Firefighters went to the scene northeast of Mead Lumber Company, just before 8:30 p.m. The truck driver was able to get out of the vehicle and was not injured.
Beatrice Fire Captain Jeremy Seggerman says the truck was hauling gasoline to be off-loaded at a fuel facility there. About 200 to 300 gallons of gasoline spilled onto the ground and officials used a drying agent to clean up the area. Gage County Emergency Management was summoned to the location.
A towing company used cables attached to the truck to upright the vehicle, from a ditch along the east side of the roadway. The rollover happened next to a portion of the Homestead Recreational Trail in north Beatrice. Firefighters left the scene at around 10:50 p.m., Saturday.
