Volunteer fire department in Mississippi ‘burned to the ground’

VIDEO: Saturday evening, into Sunday morning the Bentonia Volunteer Fire Department was fully lost in a fire. According to the department, several agencies assisted with attempting to control and put the fire out, including units from Yazoo, Flora, and Pocahontas. Ultimately, the building was a total loss. The exact time of the fire is unknown but a volunteer with the department said it was between four and five p.m.

Bentonia Fire Department Chief Scotty Smith stated in a social media post, “It burned to the ground… Yes, we lost our station but we built something together tonight something special. God is greater and He will allow us to build bigger and better!” The chief continued to say, “Don’t count the town of Bentonia out just yet!” The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
