VIDEOS: Crews contain large pallet fire that burned for hours in New Mexico

An investigation is underway into a large pallet fire in northeast Albuquerque. Albuquerque Fire Rescue crews were called to the area of Nikanda Road and Edith Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a vehicle fire. The first crew arrived and saw a large wind driven fire on a property with large amounts of stacked wooden pallets.

The fire had already spread property wide and was involving nearby properties as well. The event was upgraded two a second alarm fire that includes multiple units from Bernalillo County Fire Rescue. Crews got the fire under control in about two hours.

No one was hurt from the fire. However, one person was assessed for a medical condition at the scene. Crews stayed on scene throughout the overnight to ensure the fire stayed extinguished. AFR and BCFR are performing joint investigations into the fire.
