PHOTOS: All lanes on the Union Centre overpass at Interstate 75 in West Chester have reopened Wednesday morning after a tanker truck carrying diesel fuel overturned and caught fire Tuesday. The fire sent massive plumes of smoke and flames into the air. All overpass lanes and exit ramps at Union Centre Blvd. were closed as a result of the fire Tuesday afternoon.
The driver of the tanker truck was able to make it out, escaping as the cab caught on fire. Officials say the road will be rough to drive on, because ODOT officials could not finish the repairs due weather so the surface hasn’t been painted, but has been tested and is safe. The only closure still in effect is that motorists will not be able to turn left when they take the exit ramp coming from I-75 southbound.
