VIDEOS: Adirondac tour boat catches fire on Lake George in New York

PHOTOS: The Adirondac tour boat caught fire on Lake George Monday morning. The fire was discovered by Public Works employees just before 6:45 a.m., according to Warren County Director of Public Affairs Don Lehman. At least six fire companies responded, and the fire was brought under control in about an hour using a ladder truck and a fire boat. No other boats were damaged, and no injuries were reported.

The Warren County Fire Cause & Origin Team and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control are now investigating what started the fire. Lehman tells CBS6 the 115-foot-long boat was decorated with Christmas lights and was being used for holiday and New Yearโ€™s cruises. The fire burned both inside the boat and on its external decks.

The Department of Environmental Conservation is working to safely dispose of the water used to extinguish the fire to prevent contamination of Lake George. The boatโ€™s hull was filled with potentially contaminated water as firefighters worked urgently to put out the flames. The fire is not considered suspicious, but the cause remains under investigation.
