VIDEO: Ohio fire crews battle blaze in bitter cold

PHOTOS: Arctic temperatures added to the challenges as Cleveland firefighters worked to put out flames that had fully engulfed a house early Monday morning. The fire broke out at a vacant home at about 5:45 a.m. in the 1400 block of E. 59th Street. A FOX 8 photographer on the scene said because of the extreme cold, a fire hydrant broke and sent a hose flying with water spraying all around. The unusual scenario then turned the street into a sheet of ice. According to FOX 8 meteorologist Scott Sabol, at the time, the temperature in Cleveland was 10ยฐ. Crews were eventually able to shut off the hydrant.
