Authorities in Bay City are investigating a boat fire and other boats that were vandalized early Thursday morning. The boat was docked at Liberty Harbor Marina near Veterans Memorial Park off John F Kennedy Drive. The Bay City Fire Department said the boat caught fire around 2 a.m., and firefighters extinguished the flames shortly after 2:30 a.m.
According to the Bay City Department of Public Safety, several other boats at the marina had been entered and vandalized. Police did not say how many suspects there could be. There were no injuries, and no one was on the boat at the time of the fire. Booms were deployed to help prevent the spread of contamination into the Saginaw River. The Coast Guard and Michigan EGLE are at the scene investigating the possibility of a spill.
