Bartlesville firefighters are sliding into their rescues instead of coming down fire poles. “It allows our guys downstairs quicker and get to the apparatus faster, which allows them to get out the door and respond to the calls quicker,” Bartlesville Fire Chief H.C. Call said. Call said the goal of the slide is efficiency. “Our turn-out time, we want to try to get from the bedroom to the trucks and ready to go in one minute,” Call said. When the firefighters are upstairs sleeping, they have two ways to get downstairs and to the trucks, stairs or a slide.
