New Mexico fire department reunited with first fire truck

VIDEO: It’s a piece of Santa Fe history that dates back more than a century. Now, after years of trying to get it back, the Santa Fe Fire Department (SFFD) is once again reunited with their very first fire truck that was used during the early 1900’s. “It’s a huge part of our history and we want to preserve that,” said Rollin Jones, a firefighter with SFFD. “It’s going to serve as a great way for us to open discussions about what firefighting used to look like, and talk about the history of firefighting and some of the big fires we’ve had in Santa Fe.” The American LaFrance firetruck arrived in Santa Fe in 1918 and was the very first truck used by SFFD.
