Mississippi firefighters recount grueling response to helicopter tragedy

VIDEO: National Transportation Safety Board investigators spent another day at the site of a deadly helicopter crash in Madison County. They were documenting and examining the wreckage. One of the biggest challenges for Gluckstadt firefighters was finding the crash location, which was in such a remote wooded area, that they needed a drone to locate the wreckage.

โ€œIt (was) obviously on fire and getting a fire engine back there โ€” fire engines are not technically able to be on dirt roads,โ€ said Gluckstadt Fire Department Training Officer Travis Armstrong. Veteran pilot Cal Wesolowski, along with flight nurse Dustin Pope and critical care paramedic Jakob Kindt were killed when the medical helicopter went down less than 15 minutes after taking off Monday from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
