A man who tried to sell stolen equipment from the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) was arrested in Moses Lake last week. According to the Moses Lake Police Department (MLPD), members of the department’s Street Crime Unit got a phone call from someone at SFD saying that stolen fire equipment was being sold in Moses Lake on Facebook. Police said the stolen equipment was full turnout gear, including pants, a jacket, a respirator, a helmet and what was presumed to be the bag that carried the equipment. MLPD said detectives with the Street Crime Unit developed a plan to try to make an undercover purchase of the stolen equipment. MLPD said a detective contacted the suspect, Christopher J. Rock, and negotiated the sale of the stolen equipment in the WinCo parking lot. Police then took Rock into custody, where he was booked into the Grant County Jail for first-degree trafficking of stolen property and second-degree possession of stolen property.
