Kansas firefighter ‘severely injured’ by coupling after driver runs over hose

VIDEO: A firefighter with the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department was “severely injured” Monday morning after being hit by the coupling on a fire hose while battling a fire at a Subway sandwich shop. According to a Facebook post by the KCK Professional Firefighters Association, crews were working on a fire at a Subway near Southwest and Rainbow Boulevard when a driver ran over one of the supply hoses, pulling it from a fire hydrant and causing it to hit a firefighter. While it’s not believed to have been an intentional act, it’s one the fire department says could have been avoided.
