VIDEO: The Rock Island Fire Department has said goodbye to an old friend. The department sent off Engine 32 in a simulated emergency vehicle accident after nearly 20 years of service, during which time officials credit her with helping save “countless lives and millions of dollars of property value,” according to a Facebook post. “She made the ultimate sacrifice to help us learn, just one more time, before she went to her final resting place,” fire officials wrote. According to Rock Island firefighters, because the engine had a cracked frame and failed an inspection, it couldn’t be resold or repurposed.
