Fire departments in Louisiana receive fire blankets to combat electric vehicle fires

VIDEO: Multiple fire departments are receiving fire blankets to better combat electric vehicle fires. Officials said the blankets help to smother electric vehicle fires, lessen the exposure to toxic smoke, and improve safety for firefighters. Fires caused by electric vehicles often pose extra risks for firefighters. The fires can burn hotter and last longer, and they can reignite after they are extinguished. The fire blankets were donated by Daniel Miremont. They went to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, the Pride Fire Department, the Baker Fire Department, the Central Fire Department, the Chaneyville Fire Department, the District 6 Fire Department, the Brownsfield Fire Department, the Zachary Fire Department, and the East Side Fire Department.
